Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve got a mobile app for the VegFest! Download it and search for “Bluegrass VegFest” for detailed maps, schedule, and other important stuff like Early Access tickets (if you purchased those).

  • Saturday, July 22nd, 2024, from 12-6pm. Our guest speakers appear throughout the day—click for schedule. Those who purchased Early Access tickets may enter as early as 11am.

Peak time is noon-2:30pm, so we encourage people to plan to come a little later in the day (although do check the schedule so you don't miss a talk you want to catch).

  • Admission is free. The food and products are not, except where free samples are offered.

You are encouraged to make a $5/adult donation to support the nonprofit that puts on the VegFest.

The individual vendors accept credit cards for food/products but it’s always smart to bring some cash with you in case.

  • The Mellwood Art Center complex is located at 1860 Mellwood Ave., Louisville, KY 40206. Click for Google map driving directions. The entire facility is accessible, with designated spots near the venue.

Click for a bird’s eye view.

There is free parking in a huge lot across the street from the complex, and there's a free shuttle to a metered Satellite Parking lot at 1432 Frankfort Ave.

There is public transportation available via city bus. Click here for bus route and schedule info.

Taxis, Lyft, Uber and bikes are all options as well!

  • We’ve dedicated many resources towards a smooth parking experience. There is a free public lot directly across Mellwood Avenue. Accessible parking is available closer to the venue, on the upper parking lot near the food trucks.

If main parking is jammed up, Satellite Parking is available at the Botanical Gardens overflow lot at 1432 Frankfort Ave. There is a FREE SHUTTLE to the VegFest but you'll need to pay a modest parking fee to the lot's owner via a QR code.

  • Yes! The building is 100% accessible. Accessible parking is on the upper parking lot near the food trucks.

  • BOTH! The VegFest has food and product vendors indoors in an air conditioned event hall, as well as a lot of food trucks outside.

Food trucks have been known to have lines, so if the weather is very hot, prepare accordingly.

  • They are indeed awesome! The speakers are free to see for all attendees, and we have plenty of seating capacity. You can read a detailed description of each speaker here, and the full schedule is here.

  • Yes! You view it here (link may be down until the morning of the festival)

  • Some vendors have adopted the shorthand of calling a dish what it would be traditionally called, knowing that their patrons are familiar with their vegan versions. Rest assured, all food served is derived from plants.

  • Dogs are not prohibited, but we strongly discourage you from bringing them because:

    (A) it’s a crowded indoor event… in hot weather… with lots of food… and

    (B) Out of respect for our guest speakers no dogs are allowed in the Speaker’s Gallery—so you would miss out on their amazing talks.

Service dogs are fine, of course.

Do not leave a dog in your car, the police will be called if you do so.

  • Yes. Louisville Water is providing free ice-cold water, as well as compostable cups. We encourage you to save on waste by bringing your own water bottle and reusable utensils.

  • Yes! See this page for info.

  • Bummer. Make sure to get on our email list at the bottom of this page, and as next year’s event approaches we’ll make announcements.

  • Yes, there are galleries, a giant antique mall and other businesses in the adjacent buildings. See a directory.
